PDFmate ("we," "our," or "us"), developed by Novagya Tech, is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our mobile application, PDFmate (the "App").

Please read this policy carefully. By downloading and using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Core Privacy Principles (Offline & Local First)

The App is designed with an offline-first architecture to prioritize user privacy:

  • Local Processing: All core PDF operations—including viewing, merging, splitting, compressing, rotating, page numbering, reordering, and password protection—are executed entirely locally on your device.
  • No Document Uploads: Your PDF files and documents are never uploaded, stored, or transmitted to our servers or any third-party remote servers. We have no access to your files.
  • Secure Local Storage: Any bookmarks, favorites, app configuration preferences, or saved PDF passwords are stored strictly on your local device. PDF passwords are saved using Android's secure system-managed storage (Android KeyStore/EncryptedSharedPreferences) and are never transmitted.

2. Information Collection and Use

A. Personal Data

We do not collect, store, or share any Personally Identifiable Information (PII), such as:

  • Name, email address, physical address, or phone number.
  • User accounts or profile information (no registration is required).
  • Contacts, calendars, or communications.

B. Non-Personal Telemetry, Diagnostics, and Advertising Data

To help us monitor app stability, improve usability, and support free services through ads, the App integrates third-party Software Development Kits (SDKs) provided by Google:

  1. Firebase Crashlytics:
    • Data Collected: Anonymous crash logs, stack traces, device models, OS versions, and app state at the time of a crash.
    • Purpose: Diagnostics (identifying and resolving application crashes and performance bugs).
  2. Google Analytics for Firebase:
    • Data Collected: App interactions (e.g., pages viewed, PDF tools used, settings toggled) and Firebase Installation IDs.
    • Purpose: Analytics (understanding user behavior to improve features).
  3. Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK):
    • Data Collected: IP addresses (used to estimate approximate location), user ad interactions (e.g., impressions, clicks), ad performance/diagnostic logs, and Device/Advertising IDs.
    • Purpose: Advertising & marketing (serving personalized or non-personalized ads), Analytics, and Fraud prevention (detecting click fraud).

These services utilize anonymous, randomized identifiers (like the Firebase Installation ID and the Google Advertising ID) that do not reveal your real-world identity. This data is handled securely by Google in accordance with its privacy policies.

3. Device Permissions

The App requests the following permissions to function. We only use these permissions for their intended local purpose:

  • Storage / Media Access (Read & Write): Required to locate, index, read, and write PDF files on your device. On Android 13 and above, we request granular media permissions. This permission is strictly used to render and edit your local documents.
  • Notification Permission (Optional): Used to notify you when background operations (such as compiling, splitting, or merging large PDF files) are completed.
  • Install Updates (Optional): Used native to Google Play Services to check for and execute in-app updates securely.

4. Third-Party Services and Links

The App may contain links to third-party services. We do not operate or control these services. We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any third-party services you interact with:

Our App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately so we can take necessary actions.

6. Data Safety, Retention, and Deletion

Because we do not upload or store your PDF files, bookmarks, passwords, or personal information on any server:

  • We do not retain or store any user databases.
  • There is no personal data to delete or request deletion for.
  • Analytics Opt-Out: You can reset your Google Advertising ID or opt-out of personalized ads via your device's Android settings (Settings > Google > Ads > Reset advertising ID).

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top.
